This Society was established in 1950 on August as "Thermal Power Research Society" with the enthusiasm those related to thermal power generation activities. It was renamed "Thermal Power Enginnering Society" in 1954 and endeavoured to improve techniques on thermal power generation.In 1966, the Society further extended its business activities to the field of nuclear power engineering. Since then, the Society has been conducting a wide range of activities to improve techniques on thermal and nuclear power generation, such as various technical survey on thermal and nuclear power generation, drafting of technical codes/standards , publication of the Journal "Thermal and Nuclear Power" (Circulation: 14,000 copies) , holding of annual convention.In 1980, it was again renamed as "Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering Society" and was reformed to execute the qualification licensing system for nuclear power plant supervisory operating personnel. In January, 1981, the Society was designated as the "executing agancy authorized for licensing of the qualification" by the Minister of International Trade and Industry.With diversification and advance of power engineering techniques, the range of activities of the Society has been expanded and the Society would like to follow up on our efforts to accomplish our mission under the guidance and in cooperation with govermental agencies concerned, electric power companies and manufactures.
